The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot vacuum will vacuum and mop your floors without having to be involved. It will also leave clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris, and wash them when required. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have an auto-emptying dock, however. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. Highly recommended Webpage is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and cleans and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.
If you own a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
